I think people just want to deny it because they look at the video content they watch and can't believe that everything they consume is parasocial. But there are non-parasocial things out there. Rain ASMR channels are non-parasocial. Timelapse landscape videos or ISS cam feeds are not. Some music compilation channels are not. Funnily something like Lofi Girl demonstrated it works so much better if you do something as trivial as putting a face on it.
It's just that content automatically becomes more compelling to the social animal in us if we can link it to a human personality, imaginary or otherwise.
