Her primary appeal for me when she debuted was her cuteness, her lisp, her gamer toxicity (literally me fr) and, really, that my actual oshis didn't exist yet. She was also in the debut EN generation so a lot of people who didn't know about Vtubers who flocked to her gen (mostly because of Gura) naturally gravitated to one of the members that most appealed to them (mostly Gura.)
She also for a long time, even after other EN generation debuts, remained mostly solo on stream. She would do the occasional collab, usually in a shooter, and some myth stuff, but that hardly ever happens. Basically she was the most traditional female streamer in EN so just kind of had a niche for guys looking for a 'tuber "doing her own thing."
I mean, one of the reasons I see people hate her now is BECAUSE of collabs, but again I'm very uninformed and you shouldn't believe everything you read on /vt/.
