>>40111397Aviel and idol corp have been aware of /vt/ since their first generation debuted.
Even back when they were 30 views a lot of their audience came from /vt/ and their thread had some of the most sensible constructive criticism towards the company.
Aviel actually responded in timely fashion to many of the points raised by the thread and it helped idol improve the quality of their content.
So I can say with confidence that they would be aware of any of the trending topics or happenings here.
Tempus is obviously a factor here because that was the biggest backlash male vtubers have ever had. Before NijiEN male vtubers weren't something most people were even aware of, NijiEN debuted them and they did well with a very specific audience but as a whole NijiEN's audience was small and male-female integration is a core part of their company.
Of course there were fans of NijIEN that didn't like it when the males arrived, even to this day there are NijiEN fans who hate having the males around. But this never grew to be a big backlash in part because NijiEN's audience is smaller but also because a lot of the fans are ok with it, it's really the norm for the company so people who had a problem were just told to quit bitching and get used to it or leave.
Tempus was a completely different story. Hololive IS a girls company. The fanbase is there for that. The fans have a right to that and they know it. So when Tempus arrived and the girls were constantly collabing with them there was a real backlash and it wasn't just limited to /vt/, this topic was a controversy in any place where vtubers are freely discussed.
This shit led to Hololive English Productions doing damage control and cope posts on twitter very notable drama and massive shifts in numbers.
If Aviel planned to have males before Tempus seeing the massive backlash reaction Hololive got would surely convince him to take a step back from it.
Here's a catch, I think Aviel might still want to capitalize on the male vtuber market. But he will be wise about it and won't have an idol male gen, he might just create an entirely new company for male vtubers and keep them separate from each other.
