To date no JP has picked up English good-enough to really-really converse with EN girls (chammers can struggle speaking a bit but was like that pre-EN) despite some HoloJPs have been "learning" it for like 4-5 years now. So an EN able to actually go the other way around and hold their own in JP convo after being rather unable to speak it at first would be really something to see.
I think Gura has a good business sense and can see the writing on the wall that if the EN scene dies out that vtubing is probably gonna be permanently-around in Japan for ages and she could try leaning on them if they stay interested in her long-term. They had a fucking convention just for her over there, she must have noticed and realized she could be the vtuber Billy Herrington basically if she wanted, a meme foreigner celebrity.
