She doesn't advertise herself for her singing abilities. Mori originally used to do mixed karaoke/original song streams and kiara pushes every single song she releases to the point it became "stream sparks" grew a life of its own and managed to save that failing song. They also try to make every release an event. Better or not, Irys doesn't seem to have as much faith in her songs as those two.

her whole vsinger shtick got played like a ragdoll. getting paired with ESL songwriting (whom she has no control over) and Cover's lack of communication to her about the songs' release dates is not gonna do any good; she's left to herself to promote it and be "hey guys i have a new song coming up, be sure to listen to it"

now compare that to kiara's orisongs; she has a say in what to put in and gets to choose who produces it which means she's fully aware of when it's gonna get greenlit for a release

Unironically the JP debuff, especially since she started out only doing JP so she lost momentum at the beginning as well. Mori did the opposite and gain fans because English buff. Bottom line was she was hyped up before debut as "THE" EN Vsinger but when she only sang in Japanese it let a lot of the hype go away that she's never recovered.

Those aren't really good views for any of them but I'm not sure what people expect in terms of views. An MV getting 1 million views in less than a week is out of the ordinary. Not that many can do it in a month's time either. On my scale basing this on seeing that Umisea and even the Twelve Days of Christmas (cover) hit 1 million at around 3 months time, I'd say if you can't hit 1 million in 3 months I'd say you failed as a song if you can't do better than those songs listed. I'd award a participation award if you still hit 1 million views even if you have to crawl for it since I don't think there is that many that hit that if you account for all the cover and original songs in Hololive. It's gotta be between 1,500~2,000 right now. It is possible to get a resurgence in interest in a song later but those are rare and don't happen often.

On the contrary, I would say only her fans tune up to watch her MV and original songs. The thing is that she is competing indirectly with all the jpop big hits and that's no good.
She doesn't release ambitious MV and you have tooboe and Zutomayo out there.
Her pop and song concepts are neither sugary enough nor depressing enough. Her lyrics are quite weak and that makes the song not very interesting or emotional to watch, she talks abouts hope and despair every time but songs like hated by life itself have way deeper vocabulary and makes you come back every time.

In the end, people in the gray zone don't just listen to the pop for the tunes but because they feel that the songs take the words of their mouths. They want both novelty and honesty. And the Irys songs are lost in the same bargaining bin as isekai shows opening #183621 and Failed harem anime of the season opening.
Seriously, see the difference in babbling between people about Irys songs and people about Irys streams. No singer deserves songs so superficial they would be more vacuum than a stream.

TL;DR : Her marketing lacks very much of variety in concepts and character.

Just look at Eve or Kenshi Yonezu, I'm not a fan of these wankers but you'll see that their songs are never the same twice. They don't seem incredible at first but Kaikai Kitan and Peace sign are way out of the comfort zone. It means a lot of hard work to make these songs cool with a such fast pacing of the lyrics. But they still do it and rightfully people show that they care about dedication.

Her music is bad and since february or march of last year she's been phoning it in. The 'golden era' of IRyS was probably october-november of 2021, summer was okay too but it was autumn 2021 where she really came into her own and made good friends with people like Bae, Ina, Mori, Kronii, Fauna, Watame et al. Now it seems like she's just there to collect checks, which is better than several of the other girls, but it's surprising you can give a neet the job of a lifetime and then after half a year or so they're ready to ghost.

I like her music but Cover do handle the releases badly. They just seem to be thrown up at random with no rhyme or reason, and there's absolutely zero hype. My "favorite" was when they sent one of her best songs to die with a title completely in kanji. Really helping the international audience there.

A bunch of generic songs written by ESL musicans, release schedule so mismanaged that she often has to release songs when she's on break, mvs that come months after the song in question with little to no hype, the whole redesign drama. Because all of these things are completely out of her control. She wants to sing in English? All the songwriters Cover hires are Japanese ESL. Good lyrics? The management wouldn't know good lyrics even if someone told them. Good music? read the last part. As said before she's a literal slave for whoever is in charge of Project:Hope, and ironically would be way better served if she was a member of Council.

They do love her music, the thing is majority of the views comes from irystocrats so even if she is releasing good songs it doesn't matter much views wise.
For average holoviewers many of her song feels like random fantasy or isekai anime mid tier OPs, try ask non irystocrats from /here/ and dicksword or whatever to show their holo playlist and i'm sure you won't find more than 3 irys songs in each playlist.
I see alot of ESL lyrics mentioned as the issue but honestly lyrics doesn't matter much if the songs are japanese styled people just want it sounded nice to the ears, you have shoujo rei as one of favorite jap song for en viewers after suisei and elira covered it many still thinks its unironically a happy love song

I think IRyS is a good streamer but a bad singer, her range is piss poor and she tends to push herself a bit when she karaokes showing shes unable to pace herself properly.
I like her streams but don't care about her singing.

The difference is that AZKi actually wrote and composed some of her songs before INNK was nuked, not to mention her release schedule for new songs was never completely fucked and her they always came with MVs.
