>>41103964Russia isn't hurt much by sanctions relatively speaking because it was already verging on being a pariah on the world stage due to the government, and it's a fairly self sufficient country. China's entire economy is propped up by trade with the west, if the west put heavy sanctions on China & ceased trade the country would go up in flames overnight.
It's why China will never actually attack Taiwan unless the leaders actually lose it. Not only will they fail because of US intervention, they would get sanctioned to hell and back. It's mutually beneficial for both China and the USA to keep Taiwan in it's current state because that way they can posture around it to look tough on their rival, but realistically neither will actually do anything because the risks are too high for too little reward. China might be ruled by cunts, but unlike Putin they aren't genuinely fucking stupid.
>>41102009It's only true if you're being pedantic. The Monarchy is purely symbolic in those countries, they can very easily to remove the monarchy from their constitutions and become republics, which is exactly what Ireland did in 1949. And to be pedantic myself, the only countries in the UK are England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Australia, NZ, and Canada are all part of the Commonwealth.
They're not ruled from Westminster and have their own sovereign governments, unlike say Northern Ireland for example which is ruled from Westminster and occasionally has a devolved government that is only granted power from Westminster.
