Cover publicly suspended two JP talents, fired six CN talents, and closed down the holoCN branch. If they has stayed quiet it would likely have blown over but the blatant attempts to appease the different markets kept adding fuel to the fire. And it was Bilibili's translator who changed their statement. Cover's later statement implied as much and said people should always refer to their original statement anyway.

It is ridiculous that they would even cave in to their ridiculous retardation when they literally did nothing wrong. Is it the fact that Youtube’s analytics acknowledged Taiwan as a country

Because even if Taiwan was considered a province of RPC wouldn’t still be called Taiwan? Isn’t "Republic of China" the actual name they should be mad about?
Also I’m fairly certain holos have said Taiwan on stream both before and after the Coco/Haachama incident without any backlash...

This + it was seen as Coco deliberately recreating Haato's honest mistake + the "fuck u and don't come back" was seen as taunting them specifically
This was all on the surface, there has to be internal drama propelling it, it's too fucking stupid otherwise. I remember hearing lots of the Hololive fan communities closing down / melting down even if they weren't angry at Coco.

Both the JP and CN versions of the press release were on the Cover corporation website and the CN version was later deleted when hololive fans noticed there were differences between them. The obvious attempt to appease both sides backfired.

Translators are cover’s contractors. It doesn’t matter if the host the translation, it’s still the result of a translator that may have modified what they said. If cover says that only the original represent their views then it should be use as a reference and the translations are merely provided for convenience.
