Luxiem succeeded because they're basically BL fujo tier designs come to life with that sort of voice, similar to how Myth was a breakout in the EN VTuber sphere.
But Luxiem is not as talented as Myth naturally, so their growth has now slowed down.
"Brotuber" is the mythical talented male who would prefer to in a weeb infested hobby like VTubing instead of doing cam streams and showing off their irl shit (e.g. Vesper, most of his talk is about the outdoors, or strange shit that he's bought, or PC streams, all of which would be a 100 times more effective to show off as a fleshtuber).
As of now Vesper is the only one who is in this tier, but as mentioned, most of his convo topics are better suited for being a fleshtuber.
Roberu has cultivated the image of "chaste harem protagonist" in a similar vein to the MC from Seitokai Yakuindomo, and thrives off of that + his zatu skills.
Astel is good at apex and singing, and so both of those type of streams get decent numbers, but most people would rather watch Aqua if she was playing Apex or Aqua karaoke (and generally the girls playing a game or singing), so there's nothing that sets him apart as "unique" in this field.
In the end, who are male VTubers even aimed at? Did anyone ask for them?
