Back in the days when it first came out, people complained that normal mode was too hard. Apparently the Japanese switched normal with hard in some versions or something. But overall DMC games aren't hard at all. A lot of people beat DMC3 when they were kids

DMC3 very good case for not letting someone start on easy mode. Gura probably would have just played on easy if it was offered right away but by locking it away and making it sting to unlock it the game's pushed her into going further than she would have thought she could before.

The boss is dogshit I agree, but Gura was doing real bad, like jumping, attacking twice and jumping again over and over doing no damage during the vulnerable phases. Or just never finishing a combo, missing out on most of the damage.

Or repeatedly doing the stinger command but I can forgive that because it's a typical newbie strat.

The western version got rid of easy mode and shifted everything up. Normal was Japanese hard. Even on the actual normal mode from Japan the game had very little compunction about killing you for messing up. It's easily the hardest DMC game.

I guess it takes time to get used to it. It's her first playthrough after all. If she rested, I'd bet she could do better next time.
