And, in addition, there are plenty of attributes that women attach to height that are attractive on their own, but have nothing to do with height. It's a whole rabbit hole you can go down, with very little to verify who's talking out of their ass and who isn't. But it's clear that attraction to height is not just about height alone.
I think the clearer reason to question female preferences at large is that you're the height you are. Barring the (usually retarded) option of surgery, your height is what it is. Part of accepting something negative is realizing you'll never be happy about it. Understanding that the expectation is a meme helps women understand that their shopping list requirement is ridiculous and it helps men deal with the insecurity it causes. Everyone knows women like tall men. That's why nobody opts to discuss that part of the question.
