Neuro-sama is a neural network created by Vedal in 2018 for the purpose of learning to play osu! In December 2022 Vedal revived the project with the addition of a large language model, a TTS software and a VTube Studio model, which allow Neuro-sama to interact with her chat as a VTuber and ever since then she has been entertaining the chat with responses and unhinged rants nearly daily. True. Even if she could play games, her inability to pronounce some words (especially numbers and initialisms) properly would be distracting.
I do sort of like the way she makes a distinction between the question being asked and her answer to it, which Neuro struggles with sometimes.
The other annoying thing about Kitt is the little "click" noise she makes at the start of every voice line. Her breath noises can sound a bit asthmatic too.

Whatever AI she is using to answer questions doesn't seem very powerful compared to Neuro. Her TTS voice also sounds kind of depressed and has a robotic breathiness to it. On top of that she can only give short one sentence maximum responses. It's cool that more people are trying to make AI vtubers, but she still needs a lot of improvements.

It shouldn't be too hard for Kitt to filter out chatters whose username is something like:
69MEGA. COMFIND LOVE IN YOUR TOWN TODAY!
The filter could look for top level domains, or emoji, or just count the number of spaces.
There might be some false positives with each of those rules, but if your parents named you "Bobby Ted Jim Fred .Net" then you can't really blame the AI for ignoring you.

The AI that Kitt is using to play Minecraft seems to have information from within the game's world model itself, rather than it just processing raw pixel data.
This is evidenced by the red line on Kitt's screen, which represents the path she is trying to take. In particular, when she is close to blocks, the red line becomes an outline of those blocks which she can/should mine.
I think that's not something that Neuro's Minecraft AI can do (and is arguably cheating).
Probably neither of the AIs were developed by the respective channel owners, and it's hard to say what the limits of each approach is.
Even if both AIs are continually developed by the open source community (or academic/commercial researchers), the vtuber channels will probably be limited by how much hardware they can afford to buy/run.

ten years ago, I would've thought such a thing might've been near the 2060s or 2070s maybe
but even in the past two years, with how AI and robotics have been progressing, I'd reassess that perhaps maybe the late 2030s at the soonest, or at least trial runs before full scale commercial production ramps up for the common consumer

Thanks so much for finding that interview! I can't believe I hadn't seen that.
I did a bit of searching online, and a Live2D character creation service called "CHARAT V" claims:
"We will start creating the data and deliver it in as little as one week and generally within 30 days."
So maybe 14 days isn't long enough for a fully animated character, but the new Neuro model only needs minimal functionality for her debut stream.
If necessary, the model could include just her head and shoulders, with an animated PNG for the heart-hands gesture.
She also only needs to be able to face the camera, so tracking for the eyes and neck doesn't have to be implemented.

Not really biased, but these other AIs are not as fun as Neuro at all, maybe it'll take some time to develop them. Hopefully like with Neuro having a group of friends feeding the things they like to the AI will make them full of personality and distinct.

In the future it could be fun to watch them collab, interacting and playing games together, or even competing against each other like some sort of TAS

Based off what Vedal said in the interview I think he is running Neuro off of some rented server with good hardware and thus was able to fine tune her to be funnier. You can crudely pipe chat bots or plain gpt 3 into a stream but personality will require training and running the model on strong hardware.

Yeah it seems its not like Stable Diffusion where any body can mog mid tier artists with a graphics card. I think language models will reach that point some time soon but at least currently you will have to shell out at least a little bit for commercial grade server space to run an AI tuba.

It just needs to produce roughly the same expressions as the original one did, for any given output.
If he sends it a command for a smile, and it produces a frown, for example, then that would be a problem that the modeller should have detected before handing over the files.

Maybe. I checked the chatbot thread on /g/ and since CAI was lobotomizing their bots anons made a project called Pygmalion that can run off graphics cards was released. It requires in depth training and is lewd because thats what the anons wanted. I might try it later to see if you could get something that could interact with a chat.
