>>4215728Maybe my points are unclear. The members are part of Hololive, however, I don't think they actively pandered EOP back then, or at least until 2020. A lot of memes about anime girl saying nigga, Korone's cutesy noises,... were definitely not planned or scripted to draw attention. They were out of the streamers' control. 2019 and 2020 (prior to the explosive HoloEN of course) were the perfect combination of events that boost their status to the top of the industry. The momentum was huge.
I do agree that Holo management is shaky at times and still has certain decisions that boil my blood; they did make crucial turns while riding that momentum train:
>sticking to Bilibili when their domestic market was cornered by Nijisanji>the collab with Azur Lane, regardless of the writing for story events, gave people a basic ideas, relationship about their pillars at the time (FBK, Matsuri, Aqua,...) >and of course, pushing out holoENTheir decisions, or just holoEN in general, was backed by a lot of evident metrics. At worst, they would have a sizable audience like holoID, tried-and-true method which lessened the financial risk.
As a clarification for the post I replied to, I don't think it's fair to say Niji was so incompetent to let go of their chances of getting into EN market when they weren't presented the same opportunities. Their methods of expansion were questionable but they definitely tried, since they chose open branches on Asian countries first due to similar cultures.
