>>41859435If every Japanese game translated to English was faithful to the Japanese script, Japanese games probably would not be as well-regarded since the difference in language conventions are so at odds with each other, a true Japanese-to-English game would just come off as really stiff and/or poorly written, hence why localization as a practice is a thing to begin with. It's "wrong" in the sense that it's usually not what's being said, but whether or not that's the "wrong" thing to do from an artistic standpoint from the get-go, or how far you're allowed to take it is a matter up to debate.
