It makes me a little frustrated, but at the same time I care about Mumei so much and I understand her circumstances enough to laugh it off.
But Mumei has dropped some hints that give me complicated feelings. She seems to be happy when she acknowledges that Hoomans are willing to ruin their sleep to stay up for her, or make sacrifices in their social lives to spend time with her. She seems embarrassed, but at the same time she gets all giggly and excited. Like she sees that as the truest confession of how much someone cares about her. How much they're willing to sacrifice for her. Or suffer for her. She likes that she has that level of control over others, and that she doesn't even need to ask to take advantage of it.
When I think about it in that context, I take pleasure in the frustration. I want Mumei to know that I'll do whatever it takes to spend time with her. I want the frustration, the exhaustion, the pain, if it means she understands my feelings better through it than she ever could with a compliment, because she refuses to accept them. If suffering and control are Mumei's love languages, I will gladly become fluent in pain for her.
