>>42562270I think the main issue with High on Life isn't the controversy. It's just that it's not a particularly innovative game. It's entirely dependent on whether or not you want to hear the same schtick for like 40 hours of gameplay and whether it actually makes it worth it even as a fan of that kind of comedy.
As much as people like to shit on Roiland and Rick and Morty now, he was pretty funny when he first started making an impact. His old shorts and the beginning of the show was pretty great especially when paired with Dan Harmon. The issue with that humor is that it's so over saturated, over promoted, not just by the show and all of the other series he's worked on and imitators. It's like Family Guy, it was actually pretty good for like the first 3-4 seasons, but you can only listen to the same jokes which all hinge on a certain gag for so long before it starts becoming cringe and tiring. Similar situation with Chapelle and "I'm Rick James bitch". It was funny to watch the episode, it was not funny to have everyone in my middle school repeat the line over and over again for months as though that in and of itself was funny. Now I can't even watch that skit and laugh.
