When your pretend-anime people are all knee-deep into retarded drama just as normal streamers are, it defeats the entire purpose of being a vtuber. Same as how it's completely normal for vtubers to not be in-character or do any lore stuff. This is the case for both JP and EN vtuber scenes, not an EN or western thing. They kinda just turn into normal streamers with an avatar and that's pretty much all they become, but Niji speedruns this process by adding tons of ridiculous shit on top of it. This is partially the reason why vtubers will never overtake normal streamers.
