Unironically they do. It's hard for westoids or even japanoids with their millions of isekai clones to understand but the chinese can't even do isekai clones, it's just the same thing with worse and with a name change. The very concept of putting your own spin on it to avoid lawsuits doesn't exist. This is why sometimes you hear stories about westerners being hired to teach chinese kids how to 'think creatively', since they literally can't do it. No inner monologue and all that. Ironically of course if chinese people faced lawsuits for violating copyrights they'd probably figure out the "making it different enough to not get sued" thing really fast.

That's what China do best and they're good at it. If they managed to rake quite a sum, they can easily "steal" neat ideas after that and perfecting their copy so good it actually looks original.
