They brought in additional help to maintain video output while Nozomi was busy with other work at the time. Everything was addressed but because this was happening around the time the Gamebu incident was going on, the rumor mill ran wild and took control of the prevailing narrative.

What actually happened is they wanted to expand the Ai-chan brand but didn't have a model for it as other vtubers weren't relevant yet and Ai-chan wasn't as much a live streamer personality, she was a scripted content producer and singer so there was no model to expand on her brand with anyway. The multiple AI project failed initially, in the later stage love-chan and AI-pi were great but it was too late to grow their new identities. Any rumors that the original Ai-chan was being replaced or made to play a smaller role are fake and were even spread by media disinformation because Activ8 were not transparent with their plans. Also a huge part of Ai's fanbase is Chinese. When the Chinese Ai started appearing in Chinese events they felt betrayed because they thought they would get the original Ai experience instead, which they were not going to get anyway. You can imagine how vapid the Chinese antis were afterwards.

Not really, Upd8 was not like Niji or Holo. They were just a representation company. They didn't push for events between the endorsees nor influence the content. Basically Nobuhime and AyaMina Games were on their own

desu I don't think she'll be going anywhere just following the current vtuber meta of streaming. She might have started the vtubing trend, but it has turned into something else now. Her strengths are clearly in music, dancing, and performance. She should capitalize on that. It's oddly enough a niche that not a whole lot of vtubers fill, probably because you just can't do any of that with L2Ds, and 3D models need to be high quality to pull it off. Kizuna has the means and the passion to deliver the best content of that type that no other vtuber can match.

upd8 was a service platform for virtual talents. For a portion of their earnings, VTubers who signed up would get access to contacts and services in the entertainment industry. They didn't actually manage any of the talents that signed up. It's why everyone active who was still part of the project was able to keep going after upd8 shut down, because upd8 didn't own any of them.

activ8 still owns Kizuna, Kizuna Co is a subsidiary, and I think for a while they co-owned YuNi. Not 100 percent on that one but they really pushed her unlike literally everyone else.

From what I remember, Nobuhime graduated because how restrictive her management was being (third party entity that owned her model). AyaMina I don't remember the details as much, but most likely due to upd8 not being such a great service platform in the end. Would have to dig through the archives, but upd8 had a poor track record of actually promoting most of the talents in their network, so the money flow for a lot of the talents wasn't that great. A number of former upd8-affiliated VTubers did leak details here and there back in the day after they left the platform.
