Is Mad Thad a VTuber now? I remember stumbling across him many years ago for something really silly, like he was doing the theme song from One Piece and dancing around on this really shitty camera. At the time he was a complete nobody but I subscribed to him because I thought it was funny. Years later I find out he's actually become some major well known guy in the anime community and he went to jail for pedophilia or something? So yeah, don't think I want any part of that guy.

To be honest I had no interest in vtubers back when it was some Japanese girl with a 3D model ranting in front of a white screen on a pre-recorded video with subtitles, yet for some reason people spammed this shit on /v/ all the time. When I heard vtubers were actual streamers now that's when it became interesting to me, which is ironic because that's when mods went scorched earth on deleting threads everywhere that wasn't /jp/.
