There have been "too many" vtubers for a long time now. There's thousands of them out there that would be hopeless for any viewer to catch up on. What you're seeing now is more people finding their niches and the overall viewer base spreading out among a larger group, which is a sign that this hobby is maturing.

Sorta. Obviously "wow, a new vtuber" isn't that exciting anymore. But there's still a lot of random niches going unfilled, a lot of space for parasocial 2-views, and I wish there were more EN vtubers who lived close together so they could offcollab easily like the JP vtubers in Tokyo do.
