>>44010333>>44002148It's less about the paywall and more about the tracking issue. Initially, Labs was free to use up until a 10000 letter limit. After you used up those 10k letters, you had to pay for a subscription to continue using it.
So anons naturally began to use burner emails and vpns to sign up for new trial accounts so they could make the NSFW stuff we have floating around now.
Problem was, Labs figured out what was happening, and from some involvement from third parties worried about deepfakes, they made a statement and change to their agreements that IF any created content that falls under their harrassment clause, that it could be tracked down to the user who made it for the sake of legal purposes.
This was still avoidable for the most part when you wipe the metadata on the audiofile and continue your VPN fuckery, but with the paywall, you have to use a card or a wallet that links DIRECTLY to you. I think /v/ found a workaround to this, but I haven't looked into that enough to have a say.
I doubt 22 dollars alone is enough to provoke an immediate stop in the presses for the audio that was made here.
