The original takamori was a management-mandated ship, Kiara playing the clingy girl nobody likes, while Mori was to play the unwilling target.
Both played along, but Mori in particular hated it, since she actually likes Kiara, yet her character was supposed to shit on her.
Eventually the ship was scrapped. Kiara found more people to be friends with.
But now, without management mandate, Mori can actually let her true feelings for Kiara show. Not love, but best friends. And Kiara, now having more friends in Hololive, no longer has to play clingy annoying shit.
So instead of a forced ship we get genuine friendship between girls.
