Not the OP but I just recapped the thing. I agree with you that it's pretty unlikely, the guy in this stabbing didn't really have any known obsession to the group or idols. Some vtubers have done in-person meet-n-greets at cons so I guess there's a vector.

Last week, a 41 year old man was arrested for raping his vtuber oshi when he found out she secretly had a boyfriend. He apparently was in contact with her and offered to be her manager or something. He said that he gave her most of his money. Most likely wasn't Hololive.

I don't recall what happened but there was an instance where a guy tracked a girl posting things online via the reflection in her eyes that showed what train she was boarding. Regardless this is unlikely to happen in vtubing because 99% of meetings are done virtually.
