>>4460917The bubble is a fact, and it's a big part of why the NijiENs debuted to much smaller success.
HoloEN came out at the perfect time, dead smack dab in the middle of a global lockdown. Even america, which has spent most of the pandemic pretending it didn't exist, was locked down at the time. Everyone was stuck at home and bored, sitting on youtube killing time. People were open to try new things because they were so bored, and desperate for entertainment. It was the perfect situation.
We know from things the holoEN girls have said on stream that their debut came quite suddenly and they were generally underprepared for it, so it's pretty obvious that Cover moved things forward considerably in order to capitalize on the captive audience created by the global lockdowns.
But now we're almost a year down the line. Most countries have stopped doing lockdowns, have stopped caring about covid and vaccines have been circulating for months. That audience has moved on, returned to normal. HoloEN got to take their bite out of the ones who liked it enough to stick around despite returning to normal, but there isn't a huge audience of bored adults sitting around to be the audience to more vtuber debuts now.
Hololive got really lucky with timing and took full advantage of that and they'll carry through that good fortune moving forward. Their bubble has already 'burst' months ago and despite dropping from like 80k live views to more normal numbers, they're still doing great and growing stably. NijiEN doesn't have any kind of advantage like that because the company jumped the trend too late and missed the covid boat. They're great girls and their channels will grow with time and probably become quite large and successful, because they're good, but it's silly to try and compare their success to HoloEN's. The context is different.
