Extreme anxiety. One that actually can't function in society. She's pretty much just waiting to die if no one is taking care of her.
Marine can still talk about it in a joking and cheerful way now, but trust me constantly taking care of a difficult, handicapped family member will get really, really exhausting and frustrating in time. I worry how it will impact Marine in the long run.

She has extreme social anxiety and depression. Heck, it could be said that all of this is thanks to an undiagnosed level of autism.

I admit that it bothers me to see people who have never been through it tell her that she is difficult to deal with (surprise, people with mental illnesses can't even deal with themselves) or that she is trying to take advantage of marine's money when she simply has needs as a neurodivergent person. They forget that on several occasions marine has said that her sister always rejects her gifts and tells him to save the money for herself.

This is true. An acquaintance of many years had a brother who was constantly threatening to and trying to sudoku for a long time, and by the time he solved the puzzle his entire family just felt relieved he was finally able to line up some numbers. The reality of the matter is that making people have to deal with you if you're like these will probably make people hate you unless you get your act together.
