Not to mention probably within a decade or two there'll be a gene therapy cure for it outright (not yet however as it's not just one gene). Point is however that no she isn't dying/at death's door and random casuals are several years out of date and don't know or care, because they feel good treating her like a make a wish kid / damsel in distress princess, and would rather keep imagining her like that because they don't want to contemplate that no she isn't actually that special or in your particular need of money, unless you wanna help her buy another house or something I guess.
