Situational.
Thanks to the chicken fiasco, we know how horribly it can go if you try to live TL or something. Thanks to examples like Pikamee, Hana, and HoloID we know that it can go right. If anything, either splitting a stream across languages, but never really repeating everything you say in both languages, or just outright having X only, Y only streams seems to be better.

If Kiara is anything to go by, leaning more towards useless. And it sort of makes sense since JP has way more choices they dont need to settle for someone speaking shitting Japanese seldomly.

If Kiara is anything to go by, leaning more towards useless. And it sort of makes sense since JP already has a shit ton of quality choices already when it comes to vTubers that they dont need to settle for someone that only speaks Japanese a fraction of the time.

I think being fluent enough to write a paragraph in a foreign language but not able to write an essay is the sweet spot. You know enough to get those foreign fans, but its also cute and endearing when you're being a stupid anime girl.

But I watch both Pikamee and Kiara so I'm just retarded so take that with a grain of salt.

Hana Macchia speaks multiple languages fluently yet she still manages to be cute. Sure it is cute or even hilarious when someone tries hard in speaking a foreign language like Fumino Tamaki for example, but the real cuteness came from their personality.

NijiIN's Noor can be a good example of this. Despite only having 53k subs, they're still 4x higher compared to her genmates just because she's pretty good in Japanese along with the usual 2 languages of the country but her genmates on the other hand can only speak English/Hindi which doesn't help much with channel growth because they get less international collabs with JPs. This doesn't mean she isn't entertaining but being able to converse in Japanese definitely gave her an edge over the other 2.
