>>45666246I replayed through the entirety of the MMZ series recently, which I did right after I played through the entirety of the MMX series (which was after playing through all the MM classic series; it was a whole megaman marathon basically)
I think it's really important to play a game to form your own opinions man, don't just listen to online video game opinions especially on 4chan
Personally, I think the MMZ series was the strongest point of the entire platformer-megaman experience in many ways; a lot of these are flawed games, some to the point of being hilariously flawed
I think the MMZ series is the least flawed by comparison, and I disagree with the anons who think MMZ1 was not that good cause I actually really liked it and almost preferred it to even MMZ2 which was my childhood game (and MMZ3 and MMZ4 add improvements to the MMZ formula that are very worth playing too)
The unlock system for skills is fun and the kind of thing I saw and appreciated in Rabi Ribi for example, the cyber elf system and rank system were cool even back as a kid and they add a lot of skill/help options depending on how you want to play (and you can unlock minigames too) - this already makes it a more useful rank system than some of the MMX games where rank didnt do anything
There's good music and animations and hit effects, the difficulty level is also really nice but I think the really good part is the mechanics and controls: zero is playable in the MMX games but sometimes it can feel clunky or clumsy in execution; zero in even MMZ1 feels perfectly fluid and comfortable with the right hitboxes and speed
