https://twitter.com/kaynimatic/status/1631868763116290050>"Without a shadow of a doubt, I would make more money working as a cash register..."The thing is that as a gamedev, you do several projects (you don't start with your "dream game") you need experience (the act of learning, I'm not talking about your portfolio), imagine how many drawings or how many songs you create before you make a professional one. and if a fan game motivates you to continue or is better than your theme, go for it, but being paid with "clout" is childish thinking. I don't think these devs have that thinking, but it's dangerous for those who are starting out and think that's the norm.
>>46135644if you ask about the requirements, anyone can. if you ask how to start, look for LITERALLY any tutorial to start "your first game, your game from scratch, Snake tutorial, flapy bird for beginners, etc" (and i stress, any tutorial, pick a random one without watching, no matter the engine or library) follow it and see what you can do from there, it could be recreating what you saw from the tutorial without watching the video or adding a small modification to the game. then you have a base to see what you can do. it could be doing a course or reading a book about it.
