I never see people talk about this so i wanna make a discussion thread about it, i think juxtaposition is one of the strongest tools a vtuber has in their arsenal, and I think the most popular vtubers in the world utilize it well.

for those of you who don't know, juxtaposition is basically when you expect one thing but are met with the exact opposite. the main example of this in the vtubing scene is gawr gura. she is a shark right? and sharks are normally seen as big, scary and dangerous, but gura is the opposite of that, she is small, cute and completely non-threatening, this is juxtaposition and i believe it's a big part of the reason why gura is so popular, juxtaposition in this context is very funny and cute and the fans like it a lot. Ina is in a similar situation, she is an eldritch priestess with tentacles growing out of her. most people would picture that being really creepy, scary or disturbing, but ina is one of the most quiet and reserved girls in hololive which completely betrays her characterization as an eldritch priestess... which i believe makes her cuter in the eyes of hololive fans. What do you guys think, what other vtubers do you think use juxtaposition successfully? do you think it helps a vtuber grow? there are plenty of vtubers who don't use this and do fine so i wonder what /vt/ thinks
