>>46746507Basically the few that could be standalone entertainers on their merit like Pekora maybe where I wouldn't care super-hard about it if we knew. There aren't really that many such examples in the vtubing sphere who legit don't need to rely on being a cute flirty girl to make ends meet.
Even so, if they openly had a family etc that wouldn't help them by my book either, more of just they were doing something that would be survivable for me to think about like that. If it's someone who relies very much on being in-character cute (aqua, iroha etc) it'd be a huge stark contrast to have real life just sticking out like a zit in the background making her seem 100x more fake suddenly. Part of what can, sometimes, make vtubers seem magical and amusing is if it somewhat feels like the girl really-is like that and we are unable to tell, if you are able to suspend your disbelief even a bit and treat her like a real anime girl that's kinda neat. If you see her as just some random actor sockpuppeting really hard that's just shittier.
We didn't need to see the people controlling the Muppets to like them nor do we want to give a shit about them. In this comparison it'd be as if the muppet characters somewhat-are the people talking/pantomiming through them in some but not all ways and it'd be just off-feeling if a character who acts cutesy or lonely or geeky all the time and we somewhat-conflated with the actual person being like that, suddenly said/did something that totally undermines the persona. Happy married life being in the picture of someone pretending to be some presumably-single teenage girl persona would be taking dynamite to everything she was trying to accomplish as that character.
