Vtubers are not the same as idols and they're also not the same as anime. They work on similar but not not necessarily the same rules. Since hololive in particular started out and sold itself as an "idol" vtuber company, they still fall into idol rules. But since streaming is its own medium and is usually just one person streaming, collabs feel all the more special. And because Hololive was girls only for a long time, the standard of not having male collabs was established. When male collabs do happen it shatters the idol aspect of it, which is the only thing that gives hololive its edge in a sea of failed ethots. Why are we vilified for trying to protect that?
