>>47367804>Twitch is the only one taking a 50/50 cut iircOf subscriptions, yes. Here's how it breaks down for the two major platforms:
Subs / memberships
YouTube: 30%
Twitch: 50%
Bits / Superchats
YouTube: 30%
Twitch: 0%*
Twitch doesn't take money from the STREAMER with bits, they charge the user to buy them. The amount charged to the user varies by volume of bits purchased and by platform (because of Apple's draconian bullshit with apps, it costs more to the user to sub / gift subs or buy bits using a mobile device than on a desktop).
As far as ad revenue goes I don't know what the distribution is for each. I know YouTube pays out a pretty paltry sum for video views and such and Twitch's ad system has become pretty bad. Thankfully, ad blockers exist, even if Twitch fights them.
Finally, Twitch has no system in place to take money from direct donations of cash, so every Twitch streamer has a way for you to basically "superchat" them with money that 100% goes to them.
So, I'm not sure why people say Twitch is the 'worst' for money. When Ludwig compared his time on Twitch to his first year on YouTube he noted that the only reason he was making as much money on YT as Twitch was thanks to his exclusive contract, however he noted that for someone as big as him already YT was better because he could use other parts of the YT platform to grow, even if his CCV hasn't changed at all.
So, not sure why people think Twitch sucks for making money. It doesn't, and this doesn't even include shit like sponsors and merch, where a lot of the streamers really make their money. Inevitably it is about eyes. YT has more eyes, but from what I can tell still a "worse" live streaming system than Twitch.
