good things can be popular, them being popular doesn't mean it's bad
bad things can be popular too, them being popular doesn't directly translate to anything either.
and it works the other way around - bad things are not popular because they're bad? maybe, but this is not the conclusion you should make.
good things are good but not popular? happens all the time, but just because something is not popular it doesn't mean it's automatically good.
quality and popularity are simply not as directly connected as people think, either way. Maybe they're not correlated at all.
