I have been a NijiEN fan since the early days, and I've been watching their numbers the whole time.
My observations throughout three different eras.
Era 1) Lazulight/Obsydia era
-- The girls have a tight box around 8k. If all of them stream at once, they can get a combined total of 8k, but will never go above this without stealing viewers from each other, resulting in the same total.
-- The only person who actually seems to bring new viewers from outside is Selen. About 1.5k of her viewers seem to be disconnected to the other girls. Thus if every other girl is streaming, they can get 6.5k, but adding Selen into the mix brings them to 8k.
-- Selen is like a vaccum, in ever collab situation, all of the viewers go to her stream and abandon the other girls. This even happens in collabs outside NijiEN.
Era 2) Luxiem era
-- The girl's popularity is much higher now, they can get north of 14k if they all stream together.
-- Much less consistency. Some days they seem to be back to their old 8k cap, but popular streams can randomly shoot north of 8k.
-- Although their popularity has increased, the girl's donations have fallen by about 30%. This was probably mostly women who switched to donating to the boys, however it's also possible they lost some males who got sick of the lack of girl's only collabs.
Era 3) Current era
-- The girl's popularity has crashed to a ridiculous degree. Their box-total is now only 6k, even lower than the Lazusydia era.
-- This crash in popularity coincides with the crash in Luxiem. It's likely that female viewers are vanishing, which means the lower box-total is evidence that they actually lost core male fans in the past year while they were busy pandering to chinese women.
-- Smaller streamers such as Aia or Scarle actually have a unique audience disconnected by the others, but this audience is very small, only around 300-500 people.
