he's talked about it before in the past where he was discussing fashion taste in girls, and one feature he liked was when they wear backpacks but i don't really understand the full reason why (i was going to do some digging on it some time ago but i forgot to, might do that later too)

The only one I can see that really being the case for is the tote bag, as there's no reason to own that many bags; can't have too many keychains, and the rest have illustrations on them. I have to expect they'll change up what the merch physically is each year, though, right? As much as making their merch standardized is a shit move, never changing it up would be a downright bad business move, no matter how you look at it.

From my perspective as a foreign fan, I pay shipping fees half as expensive as whatever I'm ordering when I buy merch, so I usually look at what merch is available for other talents when I buy my oshi's goods to make the order more worth it. I've never had any interest in acryllic stands or badges and I just leave my oshi's in a drawer, so I don't see myself buying any of the other talents' from now on

Not many people paid attention to the team consisting of an indie, a holostars and a neo-porte. On top of that all of them are male. There might be a slight increase but all of them don't have that many fans when compared to Astel and Gamma's teams in the first place. Also their interactions weren't exceptionally funny to be attractive for your average Vtuber fan. You can tell alone by the amount of fanart they got compared to the other two teams. I enjoyed DK's interactions a lot though.

As someone who used to look into IPO prospectus for work, this is pretty much it. You present the sector/activity as an experimental activity that you'll try to rebrand and restructure. Usually followed by cost-cutting to bring up the profit margins. I doubt Cover will try starve the beast tactics to quietly kill stars, but it's probably on the boys to find alternatives and growth opportunities now - you've already seen the reduction in allocated resources (merch, anime).

This isn't completely wrong. There's so much Cover can do for them without feeling heavy handed, but everything else is the talents job. Again, it's their fault for being so insular for almost 4 years when Roberu and Astel are there proving that the branch has a future if they just stopped hoping for a miracle to happen and went outside their own comfort zone. Honestly Cover gave them way more time they would get under smaller agencies so I don't know why people are surprised this is happening at all.

i don't watch nijisanji but i followed a bunch of artists so i bound to get news about them and it reminded me of holostars' future. the news about their id and kr branch closure, then the recent graduation of the ex-id members just foreshadows holostars post-IPO future. nijisanji first cut down the least profitable branches, slowly draining the resources pumped into them, then let the members rot until they decide to graduate. i can't help but feel this is the future for holostars in the next few years.

That's why they can't afford staying exclusively in their lane and not pushing their name outside of their sphere. I get that too much numberfaggotry is not healthy but in this situation it's like some don't even care about their future as Holostars. They definitely don't need to reach anything close to Pekora's numbers, but if all of them had similar metrics to Roberu and Astel I bet none of this would be happening, and those two have showed the recipe for it to happen. Granted, it's not a one size fits all and they will need to find their own niche, but they really need to do something first.

At this point complaining about anything from Hololive won't get you any sympathies because it's abundantly clear that the absolute majority of their audience is apathetic at best and openly hostile at worse towards them and most of the girls aren't interested in interacting with them. The average Holofag "likes" the Holostars and "feels bad" for them, "wishes for the best" for them, but doesn't watch them, doesn't buy merch, etc. I think the Antis are a very small group of people, the bigger issue is that Holofags just don't feel that the Holobox extend to them, which it functionally doesn't (except sometimes when it does). So we've hit the hard limit on that audience. I can't count how many times I've seen people saying "I should watch Holostars more" and then I never see their ass again.

I think this is where the beggars actually do make sense. Cover should have made it clearer that Holostars existed as a thing back in the day and not just memoryhole them away in a numbers doom spiral to die. These days the publicity is about proportional and they still aren't getting much overlap in terms of fans, so it doesn't make sense anymore.

Pushing Stars to be close to Hololive early on would be even worse for them overall. They debuted on the metaphorical eve for the hard push of the idol angle for Hololive and before both Sankisei and .Live's Idol Club implosion, and they still had people anti'ing them since the beginning. It was a extremely hard situation for Cover and honestly while the collab ban might've been a knee jerk reaction keeping the branches separated was for the best at that point, even if it pretty much signed their low performance for pretty much forever. Debuting them after almost 2 years of Cover only having female vtubers was a huge gamble, one that didn't work out, and I doubt things would be much different if HoloPro unity was a thing since the beginning.
