But even beyond this, Umisea stopped making sense when they added Ina, so from the beginning. Ina being a tako is a joke not part of her lovecraftian tentacles from the void lore whatsoever. It was conceived as an international group of popular members and Kobo fits with that idea quite a bit.

Contrarians ignore this but yeah, this group was always about people loosely connected to the sea. Marine is a pirate captain without a ship, Aqua is a gamer maid who actually doesn't even work as a maid on a ship whatsoever and she also doesn't in any of her maid MVs or her visual novel. Only Chloe and Gura actually have a real connection to the sea.

The group failed to have any chemistry from the start as Aqua and Marine have some of the poorest english language skills in the JP branch and same for Gura on the EN side, so Cover will probably stick to the formula now of releasing a new song for them once a year and a concert performance or two every so often.
