The inception was literally meant to be a "spinoff idol" and the asian idol industry is literally built around scamming as many pathetic, lonely virgins as possible into making them think becoming the biggest fan(read: spending the most money on merchandise/concert attendance) means they'll get to marry their idol once they retire.
It should not come as a surprise to anyone that a large portion of the vtuber audience is comprised of pathetic, lonely virgins who fantasize about living the rest of their lives with some poorly animated pngs.
