>>48248473It’s not even that hard. Other than the penny and nickel and dollar (and no one uses dollar coins in America), the other three are exactly proportional based on size. A quarter is exactly 2.5x the size of a dime. A half-dollar is exactly twice as heavy as a quarter and five times heavier than a dime.
It’s because they used to be made out of silver and the dime was the smallest one worth it (nickels have always been made of nickel and some other stuff, pennies have always been either bronze or zinc coated with copper).
I guess you can’t expect Gura to know all that (although it wasn’t just Gura, iirc), but my first instinct when I’m not sure about something is to pull out my phone and look it up. I still can’t believe none of them ever thought, “Oh, this is one of those things that’ll make me look like a dumbass if I don’t know. Let me look that up.”
