>>48581236No one, not even the girls in the company right now ever said Kawaii was perfect.
They are in for the long run and have seen a lot of positive changes in the 2 years the have been at it, with a lot still to work on.
Gen3 wasn't willing to grow with the company and left. While the walkout did damage the company I think it it was something within their rights to do. Kawaii should have probably put some safeguards for that eventuality, a woman-centric business is a snake pit after all.
What's undeniable is that Kawaii literally made their career as vtubers, minus Sava, Miryu and Oceane to some degree. As shown by gen3 girls panhandling for $4,000 to get a new official model as indie, the barrier of entry to get a model on par with the quality that Kawaii provided is simply unattainable for upcoming, never before seen, vtubers. Unless you have 4k to spend like that, with 0 guarantees for a ROI, you are simply not going to get that quality, which also means you are not going to get many eyes on you for visuals alone.
Another thing decently well known small corpos, like Phase, Prism, Kawaii, provide is a baseline viewerbase that you can build up according to talent and luck. Indie wish they could have a baseline out of the gate, without languishing in the 1view-low 2 view range for weeks, months and even years. This goes back to the previous point because the wayward gen3 is even able to ask for $4,000 as a debuting indie because Kawaii put them out there and let them catch some whales. You can't drain groomers if the right groomers with deep pocket don't even know you exist.
"Well, but they earned it"
Sure, but at the same time, could have they got to the same level of notoriety they have now WITHOUT Kawaii, in just 8 months?
>Sava was Gezu, shilled on /wvt/ but otherwise unremarkable numbers>Miryu was Spica, a literal who vsinger on twitch>Oceane was Melody, a literal who singer on twitch>Aletta was a literal who TFT fleshstreamer on twitch who hosted tourneys>Peony did not even exist as a vtuber before KawaiiAnd they got paid while at Kawaii so it's not like they traded a career push in exchange for money. They got both.
