from experience it will make you stand out if you put earnest effort into drawing no matter how bad, but personally I got caught up in trying to make that effort apparent and ended up putting too much time into everything
probably best to take the example of the people that spam art every day, probably better for you than polishing turds, can't guarantee which approach endears her more but I'll bet the one that generates more art overall is better

you dont need proper training. many artists are self taught. you just need to be able to look at your art and see what you need to improve on then work on that for the next art

She puts out less than one completed drawing every few months, but she does a lot of small colored sketches usually guro and is highly critical of herself, so she's constantly pushing herself to improve. She's hardly been drawing the last year or so but the stuff she has drawn has been really nice. Lately her color choices, color depth got better. Her rendering style was always good but like other anons have said she drew a lot of edgy stuff and I think it led to her choosing very desaturated, purplish colors which didn't always work in her favor. Her fixing that and the fact she's drawing more again are quickly pushing her more into pro-tier.
I remember an anon a few threads ago compared the art of the Live2d she drew for herself originally and the one she's making for Vivi, and the rendering upgrade is incredible.

To say the unsaid, seeing her scars from when she was a kid is a trigger for her, so shes lived her whole life covering them up as a coping mechanism to the point where shes adopted them as part of her body like a prosthetic. Since she also considers her vtuber avatar to be literally exactly her, not having the ribbons is also a trigger unless she dissociates and says its just not art of her.
