>>49042171In the case of Niji, I assume it's because they want to throw 30 talents at the wall and even if only 10 of them get any real traction, they still make a profit since their only direct monetary investment is the cost of the model and rigging (and their animations/face capture aren't exactly top tier---Idol's are definitely better---so the costs are likely on the cheaper end). You could, of course, argue that if AnyColor invested some money into their new talents they'd be more likely to succeed, but evidently they're not willing to take that risk.
I've always assumed it was standard for Vtuber agencies to not provide start-up money, including Hololive, but I'm starting to get the sense that this isn't the case.
