If I had to guess: state of the art tracking equipment and software, a high capture and frame-rate, and a highly intricate rigged model. I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

They're all made by the same person using the iPhone's proprietary facial tracking. They're also not the only models that theartgun has made and all the 3D ones have that level of quality.

It's horses for courses. I like all the extra animations. Where as say some of the hololives models I find a bit dull, it moves around a bit, looks stiff, mouth is kind of open or closed, eyes may have a few positions and not much else.

Lurk more and you'd realize the reason for this is because Hololive and Nijisanji use their own home developed apps for it instead of third party software like indies. They are amateur tech companies at best, so that's why their software isn't as good.

Amateurs with professional skillsets always do better jobs. Just look at 3D animation of big AAA budget games and compare it to 3D animation of porn done for free, it's a perfect example.
