I wouldn't argue about China being an important market. But the way hololive was setup in China, was naive at best. In some way they would have been fucked over. They definitely grew faster than they could handle.
If 2022 Hololive would have entered China it would be a different story, because they were more professional at that point. But hololive accidentally stumbling into the Chinese market via fans ripping/re-streaming their videos, was doomed to implode, because it increases the level of entitlement these fans feel (because they were the ones responsible for the success)
Nijisanji for example took a much more professional approach with their joint venture. And I'm saying that as someone who dislikes Nijisanji.
In the end if you enter the Chinese market you need to enter with a plan.
