>>49648780It's a running joke in the JP internet space that VTuber fans can be a bit... scary/schizo, whatever it is you want to call it.
This originated mainly due to nijiniggers' behavior during 2019-20 and generic anti-VTuber antis during 2020 and later (which ironically came about BECAUSE of the initial nijifan schizos).
Hololive has nothing to do with either group, but since Nijisanji was the most well known JP corpo for a couple of years in the ONLINE sphere, the mindset of "VTuber fans are easily triggered and will shit up your chat if you say anything even slightly wrong" kinda stayed in the JP online mindspace even though hololive fans are nothing like that.
Nowadays I think after Hololive's domination and their own community being a lot more wholesome, this problem has become more and more of a "joke" over time, where people sarcastically go "oh no~ vtuber fans are gonna kill me~" and Holofans sometimes play along sarcastically as well (nijinogs and v antis still try to shit up the chat of other streamers that mention hololive stuff, but they're so outnumbered now that they stand out from the mostly positive hololive fan crowd).
So no, I don't think the FGC adopting a JP internet in-joke was the reason for this statement.
