I just treat vtubers as disposable entertainment, like shows on tv or whatever. I don't get emotionally invested in them, and when they don't entertain me anymore I just "change the channel" and watch someone else, and don't feel bad about it out of some misplaced sense of obligation or whatever.
Sure, I do have preferences and watch some more than others, but that's because they fit my taste of entertainment more than others, and not because I think we have any sort of "relationship" on any level, just like I don't have any relationships with the actors in the movies I watch or the bands I listen to.
I can understand why people get emotionally invested in them, and it's quite amusing to watch from the sidelines sometimes what reactions this behavior produces in people, but I rather stay detached instead of becoming a retard as well.
