>>5040910The USN is currently badly overextended and overworked, needs a lot more ships, specifically a lot more cruise and ballistic missile platforms, and to rethink their approach to dealing with China's A2/AD strategy, which doesn't aim to outright defeat the US insofar as it aims to make any US victory unpalatably expensive, in peacetime as well as wartime. Basically, China has to solve one big military problem, how to make a US attack hurt the attackers so much that the US won't bother, while the US has way more problems to solve (Russia, Iran, DPRK, and deep political divisions at home that could result in an insurgency, to name a few). So, in China's view, if they're able to take down two carriers with missile swarms and massed submarine attacks, they'll win because the American public does not have the willpower to bear the cost. And in peacetime, their strategy is similar. Keep things just spicy enough to make the US have to maintain a constant alert status and have assets in the area, which eats away at its budget and takes a toll on personnel and equipment.
I know you want to be patriotic and all, but not acknowledging military and political realities is stupid. Thankfully, your military planners are at least a little smarter than you are. One of the things they could do is push Japan to get rid of that stupid self defense clause and actually build up a reasonable military of its own, which I bet would please my favorite ultranationalist chuuba.
