I feel like this anti-idol culture thing is weird and partially Xenophobic.
Celebrity worship exist in the the west and LATAM. Crazy fans have killed the celebrities they worship, not all of them sad deranged lonely men. I would say paparazzi is way more invasive and disgusting in the west.
This is not to say that "idol culture" is innocent. Many idols are often underpaid, can't unionize or do their own public things but I feel like that's more of an issue with the lack of organized labor in the entertainment industry in general.
I just want to enjoy cute girls doing cute things sometimes. I'm not gonna get butthurt if my oshi has a life outside of her job but often having a boyfriend/husband and kids gets in the way of your career, especially if you're in Hololive where you balance singing, dance lessons, streaming and doing voice recordings for various projects and ads.
I think some of you, especially American zoomers don't get it. If you're seriously upset at "idol culture" next time you see someone post a sneakily taken picture of Ben Affleck just minding his own business, shoot the person taking the picture or reposting the picture.
