>>50267200starsEN brought in a new type of cancer. The people that watch ONLY holoEN+starsEN collabs and do so specifically to piss off people that dislike the stars. They have zero interest in supporting either branch, they just want to feel superior to others on the internet. As for starsJP, they have a smaller hardcore audience in Japan but it's ultimately not profitable for anyone either despite the massive push they've gotten from Cover and being Yagoo's personal pet project. StarsEN are on the level of small time twitch streamers which is enough for them to make a living out of it and not have to get an actual job on the side. At least I guess this is the case for them.
The audience for this company is vastly male dominated. If males watch other males, it's usually on Twitch and it's usually for a specific vibe unrelated to vtubers or because of gaming skills (like watching an actual pro-player). Otherwise, they're all in it for the cute girl being cute in her cute anime avatar which leads to profit, it's not hard to figure out and it has nothing to do with people "hating" on an entire branch. It's just that by the numbers, there literally aren't enough people interested as they are with the girls but it's too late now for Cover because they quintupled-down on adding more of the guys, they're not just gonna fucking graduate that entire branch for money-related reasons because that would be a PR nightmare. Also add in the simple fact that men, usually, simply do not watch male vtubers.
