Many all my favorite EN had spent time living in jp or currently living in jp, Amiya, Nene, Lua, Irys, nanamona, etc.... A bit of that jp culture does help the vtuber a bit and help them giving an experience closer to the jp vtuber scene.
Of course, I found gems who are kinda normie western girls but end up being quite pleasant as well such as Shee, Lisa, etc...

A while ago I knew neither english nor japanese, but I really enjoyed hololive. I wanted to understand girls and chose english as an easy route. Now I'm certain, that vtubers are way cuter when you don't know what they're saying. Perhaps jp and en eventually are no different. Just the language barrier makes everything seem better than it actually is.

My current oshi is an indie JP Vsinger who just wants to people to listen to her karaoke and maybe play games sometimes. She reads my English comments and actually sounds (or tries to sound) happy when she sees regulars on stream. It's been a year with no drama, no collabs with men, and no breaks lasting more than a week. I just want this experience but in English.

I never believed western vtubers were better than Japanese vtubers. The holoEN girls really show the divide in quality and pride the JP girls put into streaming. Be it Korone doing several endurance streams back to back, Polka doing a variety show in between a normal streaming schedule, the constant collabs between people who seem genuinely comfortable with each other, and just how they interact with the fans. Most of them put so much effort into what they do that it's hard not to find them charming.

We do get a lot of appreciation. We did get an original song about how grateful she is and how much she loves cheering us up on difficult says. We do get great members streams where she talks to us on a personal level.

Amazing how much more fun a chuuba is when she doesn't express clear resentment to the people she's entertaining.
